Dream Catchers is a new series of paintings by Alan Fulle presented in a pop up exhibition at Grocery Studios on North Beacon Hill in Seattle.

The exhibition brings together sixteen paintings that explore perception through layered geometry radiant color and circular structures. Each work moves the viewer from visual complexity toward a quieter field of reflection.

Across the series, geometric fragments build energetic outer fields that suggest the noise of contemporary life. Pattern and color form dense visual environments that echo systems of history culture and empire. Within these environments circular structures emerge as thresholds. Rings stabilize the compositions and invite the viewer inward.

Inside these boundaries the paintings open into luminous inner fields. Color becomes slower and more atmospheric. The visual pressure of the outer structures softens into spaces that suggest stillness attention and contemplation.

Dream Catchers gathers fragments of cultural memory philosophical inquiry and personal experience into visual form. The paintings operate less as images than as instruments for looking. Geometry organizes perception. Color carries energy. Pattern becomes a way of containing desire rather than amplifying it.

Throughout the series the viewer moves through a visual passage. The outer world of systems and information gives way to an inner field of awareness. The paintings ask the viewer to slow down look carefully and allow perception itself to become the subject.

The exhibition is presented as a two day pop up at Grocery Studios. The Grocery is a private art studio that does not maintain regular public hours beyond occasional events and pop ups hosted by the owners. Its street facing windows host the Walk Up Gallery which remains visible to the public day and night.

Visitors are invited to spend time with the paintings and experience how image history and consciousness intersect within the Dream Catchers series.

The exhibition is free and open to the public during the pop up hours.

Dream Catchers by Alan Goodson Fulle

Dream Catchers by Alan Goodson Fulle is now available through Lulu Press. The book presents sixteen paintings from the Dream Catchers series alongside the ideas and historical inquiry that shaped the work.

The project explores the relationship between religion and empire and the ways belief systems have influenced power structure culture and conquest throughout history. Through image and narrative the book examines how spiritual traditions and political authority have moved together across civilizations.

Across sixteen paintings the Dream Catchers series uses layered geometry radiant color and circular structures to create visual fields that move from complexity toward reflection. Each mandala operates as a visual instrument for thinking about power belief and history. Color becomes energy. Pattern becomes structure. Rings function as thresholds that guide the viewer from the outer field of activity toward a quieter center.

The paintings gather fragments of cultural memory philosophical inquiry and historical reflection. They ask how civilizations organize meaning and how belief can both guide societies and justify expansion domination and empire.

Dream Catchers examines eight major religious traditions and the empires that formed around them. Through image and text the project reflects on the long relationship between sacred narrative authority and political power.

Rather than presenting history as a fixed timeline the book invites readers to look at the patterns behind historical events. The paintings become visual maps where systems of belief power and desire intersect.

Dream Catchers is intended for readers who are interested in the intersection of art history philosophy religion and the study of civilizations. It offers a visual and intellectual framework for considering how ideas move through culture and how those ideas shape the world that we inhabit.

The book presents the Dream Catchers paintings as both artworks and fields of inquiry where image history and consciousness meet.

AlanFulle Art Interviews returns with three new episodes featuring conversations with contemporary artists Grace Dager Dave Francis and Ray Freeman.

Hosted by Alan Goodson Fulle the series presents direct and thoughtful conversations with artists about their work ideas and the realities of creative life. The focus is not promotion or surface discussion but the deeper thinking that shapes an artist practice.

Each episode invites the viewer into a sustained dialogue about process influence and the personal experiences that guide artistic work. The conversations move beyond simple questions and answers and instead explore how artists see the world how they build meaning through images and how their work connects to culture history and daily life.

Grace Dager Dave Francis and Ray Freeman each bring a distinct perspective to the series. Their conversations reveal different paths through contemporary art while sharing a common commitment to creative exploration and independent thinking.

AlanFulle Art Interviews was created as a space where artists can speak openly about their ideas challenges and motivations. The format allows time for real conversation where artists reflect on the evolution of their work and the forces that shape their creative decisions.

The new episodes continue this approach offering viewers an opportunity to hear artists speak honestly about their practice and the world of art around them.

Artists collectors students and anyone interested in understanding the creative mind are invited to watch and join the conversation.

September 2025 events

I’m having a show at Sidney Ginette’s studio at the Alaska building studio 601. I’m showing the CAVE Wall series in this series.

There will be music by Sonic Shiva, and I will be in attendance to show.

The CAVE WALL  pieces are process based pieces on Canvas, made up of many many layers of paint, that compose an organic and rich surface of transparency, cracking, reticulation, and a volcanic surface.

Throughout my long career as a visual artist, I’ve been practicing “process paintings,” an alchemical and aesthetic approach to pouring, scraping, and other activities to create a fresh look. It’s an industrial abstraction based on different materials, exploring transparency, reticulation, cracking, and physical occurrences. Glazes and the level of transparency activate the surface, layer upon layer of materials and pigments accumulate, and bubbles express an inner world within a subterranean awareness. The Cave Wall series of sculpture paintings takes this arena to new heights, like a cave wall with crystals and subterranean artifacts volcanizing the surface.

Part Of The CAVE WALL series, this process based painting has hundreds of layers built to express Materials Fresh design and other worldliness

I’m also working on the “Dreamcatcher” series of paintings on Panel. All Pieces are 24”x24” square. These paintings are “in process” that I’ve been working on for about two years now.In this series, I’ve been studying history, religion, and politics. These abstract paintings are infused with vibrant colors. The style of Pointillism, hard edge abstractionAnd color field paintings. Why is this podcast study so important? Dream Catcher Statement 2025Im working hard bringing the Dream Catcher series to life. All Spring and summer, Iver been working in my outdoor studio, (AKA the Dusty Studio)And listening to Podcasts. Ive been taking a deep dive into Religion and History.Ive started these 16 paintings last year and have been building the layers and compositional qualities in concert. The paintings are informed by my study of Religion, History and Politics. The Modernist hard edged abstraction, Pointillism and painterly abstraction. The underpainting was built in Water based PolyUrethane and the top coats are made with oil paint and oil washes

My upcoming Dream Catcher series.

These sixteen paintings on panel simulate Mandala themes and are meditations nearly two years in the making.

I’m trying to create a new series by synthesizing styles, evoking celestial expanse through pointillism, and representing the world, dreams, and transformative magic in three interconnected rings.

– I eagerly anticipate completing the Neo Geo series of architectural-themed paintings upon the arrival of the Dream Catchers.

I have dedicated over two years to creating the bold Neo Geo Series.

I am now preparing for a significant push this summer.

These large mediums, measuring 46”x38”x2” on panel, offer focused control and strength compositions, commonly used in architecture.

This series connects to my extensive body of hard-edged abstract paintings.

Inspired by archetypal architectural narratives, each painting bears a title from renowned modern landmarks. The Terra Incognito depicts rigorous research and development. The central compositions feature intricate harmonies and rhythm-based historical fantasies.

The Neo Geo series inspired by Architectural themes and geometric forms, is a series of paintings I am currently working on 68”x42” Acrylic, oils on panel (In process)
